Business Operations Analyst Intern (AI & Salesforce Focus)

Location: San Diego, CA

Internship Overview

 

We are seeking a Business Analyst Intern to support initiatives at the intersection of AI, Salesforce, and business analytics. This internship focuses on researching, analyzing, and enabling AI‑driven use cases that support Treasury Management, Merchant Services, Card products, and Commercial Lending teams.

 

The intern will assist with early‑stage research, data analysis, and process evaluation related to the use of Salesforce and Gemini‑powered AI capabilities, as well as exploratory projects involving loan pre‑flight analysis and credit data enablement.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

The ideal candidate will have the skills and interest necessary to:

  • Conduct research on Salesforce and Gemini AI capabilities, identifying potential use cases and applications across Treasury Management, Merchant Services, and Card business lines.
  • Use AI‑assisted tools and methods to source, evaluate, and document business opportunities, efficiencies, or enhancements for internal teams.
  • Support research efforts focused on AI‑enabled “pre‑flight” analysis of loans prior to submission through internal business and commercial lending operations teams.
  • Assist in gathering, structuring, and preparing loan origination system and related data to support AI training, testing, and refinement efforts.
  • Help review and analyze business processes, systems, and user needs, applying a consultative mindset to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with data collection, cleaning, and exploratory analysis to produce insights that inform business and technology decisions.
  • Document findings, requirements, and observations in clear, well‑organized formats such as summaries, process maps, or presentations.
  • Participate in the evaluation and improvement of analytical workflows, data inputs, and reporting approaches.
  • Support the creation of basic dashboards, reports, or visualizations to track adoption, usage, or outcomes of pilot initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business partners, analysts, and project team members on ad‑hoc research or analytic projects as needs arise.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in a College or University, or graduated within the current year, with a minimum GPA of 3.0, working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field (please include GPA on resume or cover letter).
  • Strong interest in AI applications, data analysis, and business process improvement within a financial services environment.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, data tools, or analytics platforms (academic or practical experience).
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with Power BI, Power Query, SQL, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Strong analytical thinking skills with the ability to synthesize information and communicate insights clearly.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to evolving project needs.

 

Preferred:

  • Exposure to business process analysis, workflow evaluation, or requirements documentation.
  • Coursework or hands‑on experience related to AI, machine learning, or data‑driven decision making.
  • Interest in commercial banking, lending, or financial technology.

 

A combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

This position is eligible to earn a base rate of $20/hr.
